it’s another busy weekend out on the Sea Islands.

TODAY, FRIDAY

On Johns Island, at Seanachai Social Club, Southern Flavor Bluegrass is playing at 8pm.

On James Island, at the Brick House Kitchen, Weight Station is playing 7-10pm. At Bohemian Bull, Stratton Moore and Friends are playing at 8pm. Over at Smoky Oak Taproom, the Rusty Hook Ramblers start playing at 10pm.
SATURDAY

On Wadmalaw Island, It’s another Sippin’ Saturday at Irvin House Vineyards. Live music is provided by Don Merkle and the Blacksmiths, and food provided by Johns Island’s own Tomato Shed Café.

On James Island, starting at 10am, the Brick House Kitchen has a Holiday Arts and Crafts Fair until 4pm.

On Johns Island, New Moon Pizza has Shuckin’ & Truckin’ Oyster Roast and Food Truck Rodeo starting at 1pm until 6pm. Oyster buckets are $15. Live Music by Ben Fagan and the Holy City Hooligans. Food trucks in attendance include Rollin’ South, Roadside Seafood, Dulce Truck, and Korki’s Kafe. Annie’s Nannies will have children’s activities. Clothes on a Bus, a mobile retail clothes shop, and The Spice and the Spoon herb and spice mobile shop will also be in attendance. For more information, see the Facebook page.

Also on Johns, Freshfields Village has decorated for the holidays.

On Folly Beach, from 4-10pm Pluff Mud Productions presents the Folly Fish Fry and Movember Madness Party. $5 admission and $5 a plate. Live music for Deer Creek Sharp Shooters. For more information, see the Facebook page.

On Johns Island, Ed Porkchop Meyer is playing at Seanachai at 8pm.
SUNDAY

On Johns Island, Guerrilla Cuisine is hosting a pig roast at Legare Farms to benefit Jimmy Hargrow’s family. Hargrow died of cancer. For tickets, click here.

On James Island, at the James Island Yacht Club, the Oyster Roast starts at 3pm.

ALL WEEKEND AND BEYOND…

All over Charleston, Buy Local Month continues for a second week.

On James Island, The Holiday Festival of Lights continues, it opens every night at 5:30pm. Charleston Acting Studio has nightly performances of On Golden Pond at 8pm, there are some Sunday performances at 3pm.

If you know someone who really loves Christmas, or collects unique ornaments, you’ll want to check out Hyams Garden Store’s Christmas shop. This time of year there’s not much to grow outdoors, so Hyams’ turns their second store into a Christmas showroom November–December. There’s also holiday-themed serving pieces like wine glasses, cheese plates, and cookie plates for sale. Hyams is on Folly Road, not far from the Camp Road intersection.

Whatever you get into, have fun and be safe!  Be forewarned, I do retweet photos of people having a great time, beautiful sunsets, or nature in our area. If I notice other activities I will update this post.

Over on Kiawah, the Kiawah Island Motoring Retreat is happening today through Sunday. There are 100+ classic cars on display. There are galas and a drive around Johns, Wadmalaw, and Kiawah’s winding country roads scheduled. Click the link for ticket information and a full schedule. This event benefits the Kiawah Conservancy and MUSC Children’s Hospital Fund.

Over on James Island, at 7:30pm, Max & Henry’s bar is hosting a Movember party, giving away prizes for the best mustache. The $5 donation at the door gets you access to $3 house brands, $2 domestics, and a $2 shot special. [Max & Henry’s is located very close to the James Island Walmart. It shares a strip mall with Ladles and the Kickin’ Chicken.]

Over at Seanachai, it’s Edisto Island’s Cotton Blue band. Enjoy live music and conversation in an authentic Irish pub environment that’s completely television free.

On James Island, from 8-11pm tonight, there’s a “James Brown Dance Party” at Brick House Kitchen. Elise Testone and saxophonist Simon Harding are leading the band. $10 a person for this all ages show. Click the “Brick House” link for more information.

SUNDAY:

On James Island, the Sunday Brunch Farmers Market at Medway Park starts at 11:30am-3pm. Food trucks, local photography and crafts, live music, wildflowers, produce, and friendly local folks.

Seanachai is holding a Teaching More Fundraiser. $30 per person. Per the website:
“Join Danielle Killem and friends for a good time and a chance to help a good cause. Price includes a Tex/Mex Dinner, 2 beers, and transportation via Irish Limo (starting at 4:30pm) from Muse at 82 Society Street Downtown to Seanachai if needed. Live music. Contact: danielle@teachingmore.org / 406-223-0043. Teaching More has launched a sustainable farma and a midwife education program in Kasawanga, Kenya. Its goal is to fight human trafficking.

ALL WEEKEND LONG AND BEYOND…

The Holiday Festival of Lights continues at James Island County Park. Gates open nightly at 5:30pm.

For a new craft beer hotspot on James Island, check out the new Bohemian Bull on Folly Road. They are open daily for lunch and dinner; they even have a scaled back late night menu available until close. Bohemian Bull has 30+ craft beers on draft (both local and more nationally recognized brands).
