Three things you might not know about this blog:
No one paid to be on it. It started with local businesses I’ve interviewed as a local journalist. After the story’s spotlight faded for the next story, and the next, and so on, I was a little sad. I wanted to keep up with each business’ activities after we talked. The more stories I wrote the more complicated this became, until I realized I could create a blog on it and share the wealth as a local helping visitors.
Many are overlooked treasures Johns Island has no media all to itself, but that doesn’t mean there’s nothing out here. Quite the contrary, and it’s poised to grow even more. I created this book to remedy this situation. If it’s on this blog, on twitter @SeaIslands101, in the guide, or all three, it’s either an activity here on the islands, it’s sponsored by an island business, or it’s a tourism hotspot like nearby plantations. If the activity isn’t happening out this way, I will surely tell you.
The next edition of the Dining Guide will include even more islands south of Charleston, like Folly, James, and Edisto. Beyond that, it will have a Northeast of Charleston section for Isle of Palms and Sullivan’s Island.
Look for my next post, a weekend update, Friday around 3pm.
