Small Business Saturday is November 30th. If they are to survive, though, small businesses DESERVE more than just one day.

Lowcountry Local First, Charleston’s local economy advocacy group, created Buy Local month in the six years ago. This year’s movement started yesterday, and it extends through December 15th.

As you buy gifts for loved ones, or for yourself this holiday season, seek out a local business who could help with your list’s items in lieu of a big box chain. Buying local helps our local tax base. It also means becoming a beloved regular; businesspeople and their staff tend to remember faces. This means making new friends, and expanding your network.
